About the producer
Domaine d'Espérance, a hillside in Bas-Armagnac in Gascony, was purchased by Jean-Louis and Claire de Montesquiou in 1990, having been left to run wild. The domaine has been completly restructured and is now well known for its high quality armagnacs. Gold and Silver medals are regularly won. Air-France 1st class, highly ranked restaurants and connaisseurs are clients!
The vineyard is now 30 hectares. It is the sandy clay soil of Grand-Bas-Armagnac, west of the Appellation, known as "terre-buc", which produces the domain's fruity armagnac.
For distillation, we use Baco 22A, and Folle Blanche, which are the traditionnal grape varieties for high quality Bas-Armagnac.
The wine for the armagnac, low in alcohol, is distilled very quickly after the end of the fermentation process in a traditionnal armagnac still and on a low degree of alcohol (54%) to keep the maximum of aromas. We buy gascon oak barrels every year to age our spirits.
Our armagnacs have no additives whatsoever.
